Christos Cassianos was born in Nicosia in September 1948.  He had his primary and secondary education in Cyprus and subsequently studied Food Technology in UK where he lived up to his return to Cyprus in 2001.  Christos had a long career in the food and drink industry in the UK in a technical capacity and later became a feelance technical author with a book on food safety, which has been published in four languages, to his credit.  (Food Industry Briefing Series:  HACCP, Published by Blackwell Science, Oxford, UK, ISBN 0-632-05648-7).
More recently Christos has taken up again his previous interest in watercolour by joining an art group supervised by Willie Wylie in Limassol and has painted a series of small-scale pictures, which are shown for the first time in this exhibition. In this exhibition Christos is also showing work in clay created in the last couple of years. After learning the basics of working with clay with ceramist Leoni Pitman in Larnaca, he has worked with traditional kiln-fired clay and air-hardening clay, which are very different materials, and has produced a number of unusual objects.Christos has participated in several exhibitions throughout Cyprus.
This is his first solo exhibition.
